Understanding Before Action

Most exploration properties have more data on them than is being used. Reports sit in archives. Historical drillholes are referenced but never re-logged. Geophysical surveys are quoted but never reprocessed. Soil grids are summarised but not re-levelled across survey boundaries. The dataset that would answer the question already exists. It just hasn't been read together.

A desktop review reads the dataset as it currently stands, integrates it under a current deposit framework, and tests whether the geological case holds up.

For early-stage projects, that often means defining whether the property is worth taking to the field at all. For more advanced projects, it means defining what the next campaign actually needs to test, and what it doesn't.

The work is cheap relative to a field season, an optioning decision, or a drill programme. The decisions it informs are not.

Inherited Data, First Decisions

You've just optioned or acquired ground. The previous holder left a data room. You need to know what's in it, what's reliable, what's missing, and what the next move should be, before designing a field programme or a budget.

Dormant Ground, Clear Direction

You have a property that hasn't moved for a few seasons. Spend is paused but the ground is still held. You need an independent read on whether the project deserves a renewed programme, a JV partner, or to be dropped.

You're inside a larger portfolio review. A handful of properties need triage on a defined timeline. You need consistent, evidence-based desktop reads across all of them, prepared to the same standard so they can be ranked against each other.

A Structured Approach to Turning Data into Decisions

  1. Data Compilation

    All available datasets are gathered, validated, and brought into a single GIS environment. Geology, drilling, surface and downhole geochemistry, airborne and ground geophysics, remote sensing, historical reporting, and any prior modelling. Where original data is missing and only summaries survive, we say so. The foundation has to be defensible before anything is built on top of it.

  2. Integrated Interpretation

    Datasets are analysed together, not in isolation. Geochemical anomalies are read against structural setting and geophysical response. Drillhole intercepts are correlated against the latest geological model. Magnetics is reprocessed with current filters. Soils are re-levelled across survey boundaries. The signal that matters in exploration is rarely visible in any single dataset, which is why we work them as a system.

  3. Gap and Confidence Assessment

    Data quality, completeness, and reliability are documented. Where confidence is low, we say so, and define what work would be needed to raise it. Where raising it isn't worth the spend, we say that too. The gap register is built to be acted on, not to be exhaustive.

  4. Next-Step Definition

    Findings are translated into one of four positions: a defined field programme, targeted infill or follow-up, a reinterpretation milestone before further commitment, or close-out. Each comes with the reasoning that supports it and the budget envelope it would require. No list-of-options conclusions.

Compiled, integrated dataset in GIS

Validated, georeferenced, and standardised. Delivered in a format the client team can pick up and work in directly.

Interpreted maps and sections

Project-scale and target-scale figures showing geology, structure, geochemistry, and geophysics together, prepared to a standard suitable for board packs, partner briefings, or follow-on technical reporting.

Gap and confidence register

Documented assessment of data quality, completeness, and reliability, with critical gaps prioritised by their impact on the decision being made.

Ranked targets or focus areas

Where the data supports them, defined and ranked against deposit-model criteria, with written rationale per target.

Defined next-step programme

A specific recommended programme of work, costed, sequenced, and tied to the decision the client is trying to make. Or, where the data doesn't justify it, a documented recommendation to stand down.
